St Bede's Catholic High School

It is a personal honour and privilege to welcome you to our exceptional school.

Our vision and mission at St Bede’s is clear. We are striving to provide a transformative Catholic Education ensuring that our pupils are empowered to serve the common good, by living the values of Faith, Hope and Love

Through this mission, we are driven by a core purpose to nurture confident and respectful young men and women, have a passion for lifelong learning, be equipped for the future, be values-led, and seek to build supportive and long-lasting relationships.

Alongside our exceptional pastoral and spiritual guidance for our pupils, St Bede’s has a strong reputation for supporting our pupils to achieve exceptional academic outcomes. Our 2024 external examination results are amongst some of the best that the school has ever seen and when compared to national outcomes, we are clearly achieving in line with some of the best schools, not only in Lancashire, but across the country.

Our approaches to teaching and learning across the school are all supported by the very latest research-based pedagogy. This allows us to constantly reflect on and evaluate our practices so that we provide our pupils with the best possible teaching and in turn enhance their learning.

We recognise our role in the wellbeing of everyone within our school community. We support our students through a bespoke education which supports not only academic development but also an understanding of personal, social, emotional and health development. To that end, our students are deliberately and systematically offered guidance in the development of personal strength and resilience.

Relationships between pupils and adults in the school are second to none. We recognise the clear link between adult behaviors and pupil engagement in school life and learning. Our relationships allow us to create the very best learning environment for our pupils so that they can achieve their full potential in all areas of their learning and faith journeys. Visitors to the school often comment on how they felt a sense of family and community the minute that they walked in through our doors.

A vital relationship is the one between school and home. Our parents and guardians often have a long affinity with the school. Many of them attended the school as St Bede’s pupils. Our strong relationship with parents allows us to work closely and constructively, listening to their advice and challenge, to ensure we constantly improve to maintain the high standards of education that are synonymous with St Bede’s.

Our extra-curricular programme here at St Bede’s is exceptional. The vast range of activities on offer from Physical Education to Gardening Club, Russian Club to Art, Music and Drama, there really is something for every pupil. We see hundreds of pupils attend these clubs each week and this again adds to our relationships driven approach and allows us to see our talented, dedicated and committed pupils in different lights.

On a personal note I am a Dad of three girls and my goal has and always will be to ensure that they are happy in life and achieve their potential. I bring this philosophy to my leadership of our school. I work relentlessly to ensure all children who attend St Bede’s are happy and are provided with the necessary opportunities to be the best version of themselves. I would encourage you to visit our special community to see this incredible school in action.
