What is Catholic Schools Direct?
School Direct is an innovative route into teaching, which was announced by the Government in 2011 in the Department for Education (DfE) strategy paper Training Our Next Generation of Outstanding Teachers. School Direct has been designed to enable schools to take a leading role in Initial Teacher Training (ITT) whilst working in partnership with accredited ITT providers. It is a one year full-time route into teaching, with progress towards gaining a PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Recommendation.
Wigan & West Lancashire Catholic School Direct is run by a ‘Lead School’ on behalf of a network of schools based in the same area, in partnership with an accredited teacher training institution (Liverpool Hope University).
St Bede’s is proud to be part of the Wigan and West Lancashire Catholic School Direct teacher training partnership.
